All set for Hanuman jayanti in Nizamabad

NIZAMABAD: Elaborate arrangements are underway for Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, Shobha yatra, and Anna danam programmes on April 12. The police have tightened security across the Nizamabad, Bodhan, and Armoor divisions, with around 1,300 personnel deployed within the Nizamabad Commissionerate. Approximately 20,000 devotees who took Hanuman Deeksha are set to participate in temple celebrations, while some have already begun a padayatra to the Kondagattu Hanuman temple from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and even parts of neighbouring Maharashtra.

Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya has directed officers to ensure strict security, coordinating vigilantly with Hanuman devotees to prevent any disruption. Security measures include the installation of CCTV cameras, drones, and binoculars along the Shobha yatra route. In Bodhan, the police chief conducted a meeting with organisers to review arrangements for the route from Maruthi Mandir to Ambedkar Chowrasta, while in Nizamabad the yatra will commence from Kanteshwar and pass through several key landmarks.

Local groups such as Hindu Vahini and Bajrang Dal have made elaborate preparations, including specially decorated chariots and the display of saffron flags and banners along major centres. To facilitate smooth movement of devotees, the police plan to divert vehicle traffic along alternative routes including Karimnagar, Adilabad, Hyderabad, Basar, Bodhan, and Varni. Additionally, the Prohibition and Excise Department has ordered the closure of wine and toddy shops on April 12.
