Hyderabad: Former Sarpanches from across the State staged a half-naked protest at Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan on Friday demanding that the State Government clear their long-pending bills.
Despite repeated appeals, the Congress government was not clearing the bills and addressing our issues, the former Sarpanches charged.
The protest was staged under the aegis of Telangana Sarpanches Association Joint Action Committee. As Prajavani programme was being conducted at the Praja Bhavan, the members of the Joint Action Committee reached the venue to submit yet another representation to the government.
Many Sarpanches had executed several development works in respective villages by spending perosnal money and through loans secured from private lenders at high interest rates. With the government failing to clear the pending bills, a few Sarpanches had even died by suicide, the Joint Action Committee president S Yadaiah Goud complained.
“All the suicides committed by former Sarpanches are murders committed by the Congress government,” Yadaiah Goud slammed.
Raising slogans against the government, they demanded that their bills be cleared at the earliest.
