Hyderabad: Piles of garbage and construction waste continue to be dumped in public spaces across Hyderabad, with the GHMC taking no visible action to clear the trash despite repeated complaints from residents. Locals from various neighbourhoods have expressed frustration over the GHMC’s inaction in clearing domestic trash and construction debris from their areas.
“Some unknown people have dumped construction debris right outside our lane,” said Pradeep Goud, a resident of Ramkote. “Seeing the trash, others have started throwing garbage here. Some even urinate at the spot.” He said they gave multiple complaints to municipal workers and made several phone calls requesting removal, but the trash remained untouched.
Across the city, broken bricks, cement blocks and other debris can be seen lining roads, with discarded plastic bags, food waste and styrofoam adding to the mess. Residents say the unattended waste is turning entire areas into dumping yards. At Kavuri Hills, opposite the Madhapur police station, tree branches and debris have reportedly been lying on the median for two months. A user, G. Ridhima, posted photos of the spot on X and urged GHMC to clear it.
Public grounds are no exception. At Telangana Kalabharathi grounds, also known as NTR Stadium, construction waste and garbage have been accumulating for two months. Despite several complaints, there has been no response from GHMC. Dinesh V. Rochiramani, another user on X, tagged the GHMC regarding the condition at NTR Stadium. “They asked me for the location of the grounds, but after that, there was no follow-up and the debris was not cleared,” he said.
Residents say the unattended waste is causing additional issues, including foul smells, mosquito breeding and the presence of stray dogs. Locals are calling on the civic body to act swiftly, clear the debris and introduce regular monitoring to prevent illegal dumping in public areas.
