20+ observations about my Tata Nexon EV after driving 1000 km

The ventilated seats of the electric vehicle work better than the ones in my Kia Seltos.

20+ observations about my Tata Nexon EV after driving 1000 km

1,000 kms done

Following is a pros and cons list of my experience:

Cons:

  1. The driving position (at 5’10 and with a healthy build) feels a bit cramped, haven’t yet been able to nail the driving position, especially after my dad (5’6) drives. It’s alternatively very comfortable at times.
  2. My foot hurts during long drives- I guess it’s a matter of my foot resting neither on the brake nor accelerator pedal to enjoy the benefits of regen.
  3. Turn indicators at times blink at twice the speed
  4. Can hear rattling over rumble strips
  5. The speakers seem to “crack” at higher volumes, or lower volumes with high bass. Even generally, I LOVE my bass, but I’ve actually EQed the bass to be -4. It’s quite impressive when it doesn’t crack.
  6. The rear seatbelt reminder indicator is a challenge to deal with especially when three people sit behind, the shoulder room is already tight.
  7. Wireless Android Auto works flawlessly 90% of the time but reconnects every 20 seconds in those 10%, which is infuriating.
  8. The AC is an absolute chiller at 26.5 deg C with 1 fan speed, but throws WARM air when you set it to 27 deg C as you feel cold. Not sure if the compressor cuts off properly.
  9. No light in the rear
  10. Blind spot monitor is useless when indicating right, since the display is on the left and you’d organically look at the right when taking such a turn. Wish an option to display it on the instrument cluster comes through an OTA, like in the Curvv.
  11. Ergonomics in the cabin, and no cupholders.

Pros:

  1. Ride quality – in one word, brilliant. The car literally floats (in a good way) over smooth roads and glides over bad surfaces.
  2. The AC: Besides the problem above, has been absolutely brilliant even in the rear seat. Something I couldn’t say in my Seltos. These 2 reasons are the biggest cons of my Seltos and why I didn’t consider the Windsor.
  3. The navigation in the instrument cluster is brilliant.
  4. Ventilated seats work very well, better than on my Seltos.
  5. Regen also works well and is quite predictable.
  6. NVH is great, and it made my Seltos feel UNREFINED, something I have never felt before.
  7. The acceleration in sports mode is exhilarating.
  8. Range so far has been ~330kms, which is great
  9. No major niggles as of date, and I hope it stays that way (fingers crossed)
  10. Zero running cost till date thanks to free charging at the office
  11. I know it doesn’t affect the safety per se- but the tank-like build quality is reassuring. The 5-star safety rating is a cherry on the cake.
  12. The wireless charger, surprisingly, is absolutely PERFECT for my S23 Ultra. The phone just about fits and reliably charges. Almost like it’s tailor-made for the Samsung ultra phones. Tried it on my friend’s iPhone 15 and it didn’t stay still. It’s fast enough for wireless charging and does have a cooling vent too.
