Nizamabad: Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts saw large-scale festivities on Saturday as devotees and Hanuman Deeksha swamis gathered to mark Hanuman Jayanti. The celebrations included Hanuman Shobha yatras that traversed various key locations in both districts, all held under stringent police security to ensure a peaceful environment.
In Nizamabad, the event started with MP Arvind Dharmapuri flagging off the Hanuman Shobha yatra at the Neela Kanteshwar temple. The procession went through prominent areas including Subhashnagar, Hamalwadi, Namdevwada, Devi Road, Gandhi Chowk, Nehru Park, Pedda Bazaar, and eventually reached the Hanuman temple at Nyalkal Road Chowrasta. Carrying statues of Lord Hanuman and Ram, the yatra saw devotees chanting slogans such as “Jai Sriram Jai Hanuman” and engaging in spirited dances to DJ music. Notable leaders, including Nizamabad urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, joined the procession, while local shopkeepers and various organisations distributed refreshments and meals among the attendees.
The security for the event was robust, with Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya overseeing arrangements from the command control room. Approximately 1,300 cops and 225 CCTV cameras were deployed across Nizamabad, with additional measures such as police pickets at sensitive spots and diversion of vehicular traffic along major roads including Nizamabad-Karimnagar, Bodhan, Varni, and Hyderabad routes.
In tandem with the yatra, an Anna Danam programme was conducted across Hanuman temples in Nizamabad, Bodhan, Armoor, and several other towns, ensuring that devotees were provided with complimentary meals.
Meanwhile, in Kamareddy district, Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with equal fervour. An impressive rally was organised in Yellareddy town, and district superintendent of police M. Sharath Chandra personally visited the area on Saturday to oversee the celebrations.
