In the: Gudur Rural police issued a notice to YSRC MLC Meriga Murali after he announced plans to visit Srinivasa Quartz Mine along with party leaders and supporters on Saturday.
The police stated that the mine, located in Chennur panchayat of Tirupati district, is privately owned, and any site visit requires government or mining department’s approval which was not obtained.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the MLC said that the lease period of Srinivasa Mine already expired and the management obtained permission from the government soon after TD came to power to shift already mined quartz and transported stocks lying in the mine within a week.
“While the permission was only to shift the stock, the mining company started mining activities once again in a big way disposing of the quartz illegally,” Murali alleged. He criticised police for preventing him from visiting the mine to prove his allegations.
