Two inter students die by suicide in Nandyala and Visakhapatnam

Vijayawada: In two tragic incidents that underscore the mounting academic pressure on students, two intermediate students died by suicide within 24 hours — one in Nandyala, a day before results were announced, and the other in Visakhapatnam after failing in one of thje subjects.
In the first incident, a 17-year-old intermediate first-year student from Nandyala district ended his life on Friday night, reportedly out of fear of failing in the exams. The deceased, identified as Bijjam Sudheshwara Reddy, hailed from A Koduru village in Bandi Atmakuru mandal. He was studying at a private junior college in Nandyala town.
Police said Sudheshwara was showing signs of severe emotional distress in recent days. Family members said he looked anxious and withdrawn, believing that failure would lead to shame and humiliation in front of his peers and relatives. “He was deeply worried about the results. He feared he wouldn’t pass and that it would bring disgrace. He seemed disturbed and was not interacting much,” his parents told police.
The results were scheduled for release on Saturday. Unable to cope with the anxiety, he allegedly died by suicide late on Friday night. Police confirmed that no suicide note was found.
In the second incident, an 18-year-old intermediate second-year student died by suicide at his residence in Kondapeta under Bheemili police station limits in Visakhapatnam. The student, identified as G Charan, failed in his Physics exam. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital after being found unresponsive, but was declared dead on arrival.
