Andhra Pradesh Overtakes Telangana in Exports!

After registering a growth rate of 8.22 per cent and securing a second position, next only to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh has now surpassed Telangana in its exports value.

According to the data released by official sources, Andhra Pradesh has exported goods and services worth $18.6 billion between April 24 and Feb 25, and stands in the sixth position in the country.

Gujarat tops the list with exports valued at $106.2 billion, followed by Maharashtra at $59.3 billion, Tamil Nadu $46.5 billion, Karnataka $27.1 billion, Uttar Pradesh $19.7 billion. Neighbouring Telangana is a notch below Andhra Pradesh, with exports valued at $17.3 billion.

This is a remarkable achievement for Andhra Pradesh, because the residuary state has been reeling under financial deficit since the bifurcation. Having foregone major financial resources, all based in Hyderabad, the joint capital, Andhra Pradesh faced a tough time — with not only lack of financial resources but also a lack of proper leadership.

The IT sector, which was primarily developed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, when the state was united, also went into the kitty of Telangana, post bifurcation. Despite the presence of high-income resource of Hyderabad and IT hub in its territory, Telangana could not beat Andhra Pradesh in the exports. Further, Andhra Pradesh also faced crisis during the YCP rule and was mired in chaos, unable to identify a permanent capital as the former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy kept humming the three-capital song.

However, understanding their mistake, the electorate in the state finally voted the TDP coalition to power in 2024 elections which acted as a referendum for lone capital of Amaravati and development. Since assuming power, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been working with the sole aim of development of the state and harnessing all the resources available in the state.

Though the state is yet to witness the major shift to surplus income, the consistent efforts and commitment of the TDP and Jana Sena leaders are bringing a positive change. The increased exports from the state is a proof of the enterprising leaders and their dedication towards prosperity of the state.
