Farmers set to get Bhudhar: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Sunday said that the state government would introduce `Bhudhar’ cards to all farmers on the lines of Aadhaar cards furnishing the details of ownership to prevent land disputes in Telangana.

Interacting with media persons ahead of Monday’s launch of the Bhu Bharathi portal, Srinivasa Reddy said that the state government is all set to introduce several reforms in the agriculture sector to prevent land disputes.

In an attempt to streamline the issues, the government would appoint VRAs and VROs, and more than 5,000 surveyors will be given licenses to conduct land surveys soon.

“The government will consider issuing Bhudhar cards to every land holder in the state with a code and number. Based on the number, the ownership of the land details to be furnished on his/her name. The initiative will help in resolving land disputes and also facilitating immediate response in getting government schemes. The government will frame guidelines soon,” the minister said.

He stated that they are going to implement the Bhu Bharati Act on a pilot basis in three mandals of three districts. He said that keeping in mind the results obtained in these three mandals, they would implement it across the state by June. He said that it was announced in the Legislative Assembly in the past that the Bhu Bharathi would be a referendum for us in the 2029 elections.

“I will make it clear once again. We have formulated this law with the aim of providing assurance and security to the people of the state, especially the farmers, on land. Unlike in the past, when two persons came together to draft a law overnight, our government has drafted the law in accordance with the opinions of the people after discussing it with farmers, intellectuals and experts. As previously stated, after the implementation of Bhu Bharati, we will conduct a forensic audit on the land irregularities committed under the guise of Dharani,” he said.

The minister appealed to landowners not to visit the portal at once to know the details of their land because heavy rush could crash the entire portal.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed the police officers to take appropriate action if some people deliberately want to block the portal. Efforts are underway to provide the most modern version to the people by adding modern features to the portal managed by the Centre’s National Infomatics Centre (NIC). The portal will be developed without any hindrance to registrations.
