Telangana Minister for Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha held a video conference with senior Health Department officials on Saturday to assess and strengthen preparedness for summer across government hospitals in the State.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of ensuring safe and sufficient drinking water for patients, attendants, and hospital staff. He directed that water provisions be available in all government healthcare facilities, with special attention to major hospitals where drinking water should be accessible on every floor and block. He also instructed that temporary water distribution points be set up in appropriate areas within hospital premises, said a release.
Highlighting the discomfort caused by soaring temperatures, the minister called for urgent repair and installation of fans and coolers. He underscored that air-conditioning systems, particularly in Intensive Care Units and critical care wards, must remain fully functional. Where additional resources are needed, he encouraged officials to seek donor support.
The Minister also warned of the increased risk of fire accidents during summer. He ordered immediate fire safety inspections at all government hospitals and directed that electrical systems be thoroughly checked. Faulty wiring and old cables must be replaced to avoid short circuits, he said.
To ensure prompt medical response, the minister asked that government hospitals maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines, Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), and other necessary supplies.
