Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy – a name that resonates strongly not just within the YSR Congress Party, but even among its political rivals. During the YSRCP’s time in power, Sajjala was often referred to as the “de facto minister for all departments,” serving as the party’s key advisor and one of the closest aides to party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Even after the YSRCP moved into the opposition following the 2024 general elections, Sajjala has remained extremely active, continuing to play a central role in party affairs. Today, after Jagan, it is Sajjala who holds the most significant position within the party.
While Jagan remains the official party president, Sajjala not only continues as the State Coordinator but has now also been appointed as the Convener of the newly formed Political Advisory Committee (PAC) – a top decision-making body within the party.
In YSRCP’s organizational structure, there are several ranks below the president, including regional coordinators, general secretaries, and official spokespersons. However, regional coordinators are limited to their respective zones, and the general secretaries are many in number, which makes their roles more administrative than authoritative. In contrast, the State Coordinator – a role held by Sajjala – wields authority across all these groups, effectively functioning as the second-in-command to the party president.
Now, with the formation of the PAC, the YSRCP has established a powerful committee at the state level to steer major political decisions. The party has announced 33 members for this committee, including many key leaders, though notable former ministers like Ambati Rambabu, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Perni Nani, and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy are absent from the list. Still, the party has ensured that most senior leaders are represented.
Sajjala will serve as the Convener of this high-powered committee, as per the party’s official announcement. This solidifies his position as the most influential figure in the YSRCP after Jagan. Moving forward, it’s clear that Sajjala will be overseeing all major party operations and strategic decisions.
