The death of a 35-year-old motorcycle rider in Hyderabad’s Balanagar Sunday led to tension in the area as the family members of the deceased staged a protest on the road, blaming a traffic constable for his demise.
Following this, the police resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the mob.
The accident occurred when Joshi Babu, a carpenter, was stopped by the traffic police for a routine check. According to the police, Babu was on his way to Panjagutta on his bike when he was stopped by the Balanagar traffic police near the IDPL Township’s main gate.
“Joshibabu tried to escape from the police, and accidentally fell on the road when his bike skidded. In the meantime, he came under the back tyre of a TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) bus. He died on the spot,” said a police officer.
The police registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the traffic constable based on a complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased.
