Hyderabad: To mark the 135th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar on Monday, the HMDA said it had curated a tribute that celebrated the enduring legacy of the architect of the Indian Constitution. Special lighting and floral arrangements have been made at the 125-foot-tall statue of Dr Ambedkar near the Secretariat.
A highlight is the immersive exhibition at the Dr Ambedkar memorial. The HMDA said the initiative marked a first-of-its-kind expression of Telangana’s young voices.
Over two weeks, 90 students from fine arts and architectural institutions collaborated to produce multiple diverse, multi-medium art installations. The exhibition is structured in three concentric circles. The outermost circle presents a photographic journey through the life of Dr Ambedkar. The middle circle features student-created installations interpreting his philosophy and the innermost circle is dedicated to Buddhism, symbolising his message of peace, spiritual liberation, and equality.
HMDA said it had also commissioned a hand-painted portrait of Dr Ambedkar, on the Pochampally weave. This artwork will be unveiled on the facade of BRKR Bhavan on April 14.
