Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) on Monday announced that it has signed MoU with National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, to strengthen collaboration in the field of forensic biotechnology.

The MoU will also focus on DNA-based technologies and their applications in the justice delivery system. The partnership will foster scientific innovation, capacity building, and interdisciplinary research to enhance forensic science capabilities and support the criminal justice system in India, a press release said.


As part of the MoU, the CDFD and NFSU will jointly undertake development and validation of advanced DNA forensic and databasing technologies, collaborative research in the areas of forensic genomics, proteomics, toxicology, and diagnostics and establish International Society of Forensic Biotechnology (ISFB) to promote global collaboration, knowledge exchange, and standardization.

The MoU will strive to design and delivery of professional development programs, including certificate courses, workshops, and internships for forensic professionals, law enforcement agencies, and members of the judiciary. Both CDFD and NFSU will explore joint policy advocacy and publication of scientific findings in reputed peer-reviewed platforms.
