WARANGAL: Tragedy struck the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal as 20-year-old second-year BTech student G. Hrithik Sai, from Karmanghat in Hyderabad, died by suicide on Thursday night. The student, enrolled in Mathematics and Computing Engineering, left his hostel on April 9, abandoning his mobile. When he did not return, his friends alerted the college, prompting the authorities to inform his parents and the police.
An extensive search operation followed, with his photograph circulated among locals. Authorities later discovered his body in Waddepally lake in Hanamkonda on the night of April 10. Initial reports indicate that distress over reportedly low academic scores may have driven the tragic act. The body has been shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for a post-mortem examination, as the police continue their investigation.
