Will Jagan Mohan Reddy Sign the Declaration At Least Now?

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was supposed to tour Tirumala when the Laddu controversy happened.

He was supposed to have Darshan of the Lord and address a Pressmeet on that topic in Tirupati. But then, he dropped the plan after getting information that the Government is not keen on allowing him without signing a declaration.

Declaration means before Darshan, non-Hindus should give in writing that they have faith, respect, and devotion towards the deity. The declaration also assures adherence to the temple’s rules and rituals, making it a crucial process for devotees of other faiths who seek entry into the temple premises.

Introduced officially in the 1990s under the Religious Endowments Act 30/1987, this rule was incorporated as Rule 136 in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) regulations.

It is known to everyone that Jagan is a converted Christian. He always refused to sign the declaration, fearing the loss of his Christian Vote Bank.

Pawan Kalyan’s wife, Anna Konidela, came to Tirumala and signed the Declaration voluntarily.

She also adhered to the faith by tonsuring her head and donating to Annadanam.

Anna is not a politician, and no one expects her to do these things. But she did everything voluntarily, displaying faith.

Anna is a born Christian, when she placed so much of trust in the Lord, Jagan should not hesitate.

If he is so bothered about Christian votes and if he fears Christians will desert him if he declares faith in a Hindu God, he should declare that in the open so that Hindus can make up their mind.

In all probability, Jagan will avoid Tirumala for the next four years to avoid the declaration.

The message is loud and clear for the Hindus, and it is for them to decide.

In the past, Former President APJ Abdul Kalam also signed even though he was in office. But it is difficult to expect the standards of Kalam from politicians these days.

Our readers maybe reminded that while Jagan was in power, YV Subba Reddy tried to remove the Declaration rule in Tirumala to clear the way for Jagan. But TTD dropped the plan after an outburst from the devotees and Hindu groups.
