Visakhapatnam: A 42-year-old man was murdered in a alleged act of vengeance that stemmed from a long-standing animosity. The incident was reported at Dabuguda village of Araku Valley mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district. The deceased identified as Gadabantu Bhimanna, a native of Dabuguda village.
Bhimanna was a member of the Velugu project which aimed at poverty reduction and rural development.
Araku Valley police said Bhimanna was sitting in front of his dwelling when the accused Chitupuru Pollu (55), a farmer, arrived and lacerated his throat with a knife. Bhimanna was found in a pool of blood with slit throat. While Pollu’s family members and others alleged that Bhimanna was practising witchcraft, police dismissed the claims.
Investigation has revealed that long standing hostility over a trivial matter and certain financial disputes between the duo was the primary motive for the murder. Pollu was taken into custody.
