AP CM Chandrababu Naidu held a crucial Cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat in Amaravati. While the official agenda of the meeting lasted over three hours, CM Naidu took the opportunity to speak to his ministers about the political challenges ahead, especially the ongoing propaganda from the opposition YSR Congress Party.
Chandrababu reportedly expressed serious concern over YSRCP’s continuous efforts to malign the image of the coalition government, stating that the ruling alliance is not doing enough to counter the false narratives being pushed by the opposition. He questioned the effectiveness of ministers in defending the government’s decisions, saying that despite knowing the facts, they are failing to communicate them strongly to the public.
“This isn’t enough,” he told the ministers firmly. “We must gather more strength and take on the YSRCP’s propaganda head-on. If we don’t act now, people will start to believe their lies. That would be dangerous.”
Chandrababu also listed recent examples where the YSRCP has tried to corner the government—such as the Waqf Bill, Pastor Praveen’s death, and the deaths of cows at Tirumala Gosala. He emphasized that these narratives are being systematically chosen to mislead the public and must be effectively countered.
“Right now, only one or two people are responding, and that’s not enough. Our version of events isn’t reaching the people in full. We must all prepare ourselves to respond swiftly and powerfully,” he urged the ministers.
Reflecting on the past, Chandrababu pointed out how YSRCP was also in the opposition during the 2014–2019 period but had launched similar negative campaigns then as well. He admitted that TDP had underestimated their propaganda at the time, which allowed Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to mislead the public and win the 2019 elections.
Chandrababu stressed that such a mistake should not be repeated, and this time, the TDP and its allies must strike back early and strongly. He directed all ministers to get ready for an aggressive counter-strategy to stop YSRCP’s influence before it grows further.
