Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Tuesday arrested Vipperla Srinivas, who is Deputy Director in Urban Bio Diversity wing in GHMC in Serilingampally Zone in connection with a bribe case.
He demanded Rs.2.20 lakh as bribe and accepted Rs.70,000 from the complainant for showing official favour. He was also incharge Deputy Director in Urban Bio Diversity in GHMC, Charminar Zone.
Srinivas demanded bribe as a reward for clearing check-measured bills for the complainant who supplied plant material to Urban Biodiversity Wing. The accused officer had already accepted Rs.1.50 lakh as bribe from the complainant.
The ACB officials said Srinivas performed his duty improperly and dishonestly and they recovered the bribe amount from him. His right hand fingers yielded positive in chemical test.
The ACB officials produced Srinivas before special court for ACB cases in Nampally after which the court remanded him to judicial custody.
