Don’t cross limits, Revanth warns Cong MLAs | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: In a stern message to Congress MLAs and party colleagues, chief minister A Revanth Reddy Tuesday warned them, particularly ministerial hopefuls, not to go public with their grievances, saying such behaviour could dent not only their own prospects, but also the party’s image.
“Do not damage your prospects by making comments in public. Many factors and equations will be considered to finalise cabinet berths. Those causing damage to the party’s image will land in trouble. No amount of speeches in public will help you get a berth in the cabinet, as the final decision lies with the AICC leadership,” Revanth cautioned, addressing the Congress Legislature Party meeting at a star hotel in Shamshabad.
Without naming anybody, the CM said the high command was closely monitoring the conduct of all leaders. “Anyone crossing the party’s disciplinary limits will face action,” he warned, stressing the need for restraint and discipline among legislators.
His remarks came days after some ministerial aspirants—Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, G Vivek, and Prem Sagar Rao—voiced dissatisfaction publicly. Notably, all three were absent from Tuesday’s meeting.
TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud, however, downplayed their absence, saying certain MLAs had informed the party in advance about pre-scheduled engagements in their constituencies and were granted permission to skip the meeting.
Revanth also pulled up MLAs who have been spending more time in Hyderabad than in their constituencies. “This weekend, political relaxation in Hyderabad should be avoided. Everyone should be among the people in their constituencies every day,” he said.
To overcome financial crisis, it was decided during the meeting that each MLA would contribute ₹20,000 per month from their salary to the Congress party fund.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Mahesh Goud said legislators were given a clear roadmap to promote the govt’s key initiatives—ranging from the supply of fine rice to the poor, SC categorisation, 42% BC quota, Indiramma housing scheme, and the Bhu Bharati land initiative. “The CLP meeting discussed these major programmes, took feedback from MLAs, and chalked out the future strategy,” he said.
BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress govt had set a national example. “Our govt has triggered a demand across the country for caste census, SC categorisation, and enhanced BC quota, even in BJP-governed states,” he claimed.

CM briefly stuck in lift
CM Revanth Reddy was briefly stuck in a lift at the Shamshabad hotel where the CLP meeting was held. The lift, reportedly overloaded with the CM, his security team, and senior leaders, malfunctioned and stopped between floors. Hotel staff quickly responded to security alerts and helped open the lift doors. Revanth was then escorted to the venue via another elevator.
