Sheikh Rasheed, a young cricketer from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On this occasion, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Education, Nara Lokesh, extended his congratulations to the young athlete. He stated that it is a matter of pride for the state that a young sportsperson from Andhra Pradesh has become part of one of the country’s premier cricket leagues.
Minister Nara Lokesh praised Sheikh Rasheed for reaching this level through consistent performance and hard work, noting that he previously served as Vice-Captain of the Indian Under-19 team and played a crucial role in the team’s victories. He remarked that Rasheed’s journey—from overcoming challenges in a place like Guntur to reaching the grand stage of top-level cricket—serves as an inspiration to many young people. He added that Rasheed used to travel 40 kilometers daily for cricket practice before rising to the level of Vice-Captain of the Under-19 Indian team.
Speaking on the occasion, Nara Lokesh said, “Sheikh Rasheed playing in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings brings great joy to cricket fans in Andhra Pradesh. His determination and dedication are exemplary for today’s youth. I hope Rasheed achieves even greater success in the future and excels at the international level, making both the state and the country proud.”
Minister Lokesh conveyed his best wishes for Sheikh Rasheed’s successful journey in the IPL and expressed hope that he would continue to perform well and play a crucial role in his team’s victories in the upcoming matches.
In yesterday’s match, Sheikh Rasheed opened the innings and scored 27 runs off 19 balls, including six boundaries, before being dismissed.
