Teen kills 70-yr-old, dances on body, records video | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A 70-year-old widow was bludgeoned to death by a 17-year-old migrant worker at her house in Kushaiguda on April 11. After committing murder, the accused danced on the body and recorded a video on his phone.
The incident came to light when the accused shared the video with the victim’s relative in Bengaluru last night while informing him of the crime. Kushaiguda police shifted the body for postmortem on Monday and registered a murder case.
The victim was Kamala Devi, 70, a native of Rajasthan. Over three decades ago, Kamala Devi, along with her husband, migrated to Hyderabad in search of livelihood. Kamala’s husband died 15 years ago, and she was staying alone in their house at Street Number 5 of Krishna Nagar.
“Kamala inherited a few shops from her husband. She gets about 50,000 monthly rental from the shops and lives on that money. Sometimes she sought help from the workers at the shops for daily chores, and recently she had an argument with a 17-year-old worker of one of the shops. He bore a grudge against Kamala for constantly abusing him,” said a Kushaiguda police official.
On the night of April 11, the teenager went to Kamala’s house. At 11.30 pm, he attacked her on the head with an iron rod and killed her.
Subsequently, he strangled her with a sari and tried hanging her body from the ceiling fan. “After tying her head to the ceiling fan with the sari, he turned on his cell phone camera. He danced on her body, which was in a partial supine position on the bed, and recorded a one-minute video. After committing the murder, he locked the door and left the place, dropping the key nearby,” said a senior police official. The incident came to light when the accused himself called a relative of the victim who lives in Bangalore on the night of April 13. The relative did not believe the murder claims of the accused.
To convince him, the accused shared the video of him dancing on the body. The relative from Bangalore shared the same with an acquaintance of the victim in Kushaiguda on April 14, and he, in turn, alerted cops. “Foul smell was emanating from the house. Our team broke the lock and entered the house. The victim’s decomposed body was found. We shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy,” Kushaiguda Inspector L Bhaskar Reddy said. A murder case was registered, and the accused was reportedly taken into custody.
