The plane ride from hell
I took the recent Bangalore to Delhi Air India flight. This was their 787 Dreamliner service (very proudly announced by the pilot as a welcome message). But what a shameful travel experience. The airplane was in absolute tatters. Broken IFEs, torn seat back pockets, leaking overhead bins, recline averse seats and everything you could think of under the sun. I half expected a technical fault on pushback but fortunately it wasn’t so. The image managed to capture can tell the story.
Tissues were used to soak the water leaking from above but the flow was enough to soak them instantaneously. Flight was full so no chance of changing seats. Crew was apologetic and blamed it on condensation since Bangalore is too hot
Couple of positives were on time departure and arrival and some really good food (even my 3 year old toddler gobbled it up).
On another note, what is up with Delhi T3? This was supposed to be the gold standard of airports in India (up until a few years back), but now from disembarking to catching a cab, all intermittent steps in between are properly painful and reek of inefficiency and incompetency e.g. My family and I were the last to get down from the plane and into the terminal bus but it took a good 15 mins before we moved. And for no reason, there was no AC in the bus. 70 odd people cooped up in a bus in the middle of nowhere with no ventilation is a recipe for tempers to soar. Not sure if that’s an Air India or a Delhi airport problem.
