Special Investigation Team issues notices to Raj Kasireddy in liquor case

Vijayawada: Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the alleged multi-crore liquor scam said to have taken place during the YSRCP regime, has issued a fresh notice to Raj Kasireddy, a key accused in the case. He was summoned to appear for questioning on Saturday, April 19.
Despite earlier summons and a directive from the high court, Kasireddy repeatedly evaded investigation. In response, the SIT intensified its efforts to trace him and ensure his cooperation. A lookout notice was also issued to prevent him from fleeing the country.
This is the second notice served to Kasireddy, who is suspected of playing a central role in the alleged illegal collection of nearly Rs 3,000 crore over a five-year period. Authorities recently conducted simultaneous raids at 15 locations in Hyderabad, including his residence, office spaces in the Financial District, and properties linked to his relatives and close associates. These searches reportedly yielded new leads, strengthening suspicions about his involvement.
SIT officials remain hopeful that the renewed summons will prompt Kasireddy to appear for questioning. His testimony is considered crucial to unraveling the full extent of the scam that allegedly thrived under the previous YSRCP govt.
It may be recalled that in a related move, the SIT on Tuesday issued a notice to former MP Vijayasai Reddy, summoning him to appear on April 18. He is being called as a witness in connection with the case.
