Warangal: A 33-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh allegedly tried to sexually assault a three-year-old girl here in Girmajipet of Warangal city on Thursday.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Ranjan, had come to Girmarjipet for work and was living in a rented house along with his wife and two small children.
It is reported that he was observing the three-year-old girl who lived nearby for the past few days. When the child was alone, he allegedly tried to sexually assault her.
The young girl, terrified by the man’s actions, started crying. Hearing her cries, local people rushed to the spot and caught Ranjan. They reportedly assaulted him before handing him over to the police.
Police have registered a case against the accused under the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) and other relevant sections, including attempted rape.
