Adilabad touches 43.3°C, IMD warns of thunderstorm in 17 Telangana districts

Temperatures continued to soar across Telangana on Wednesday, with Adilabad and Nizamabad recording searing highs of over 43° Celsius. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Adilabad registered the highest maximum temperature of 43.3° C, followed by Nizamabad at 43°C.

The heatwave extended across the State, with Jogulamba Gadwal touching 42.6° C, Nirmal at 42° C, and Jagtial at 41.7° C. Other districts such as Komaram Bheem Asifabad (41.6° C), Narayanpet and Medak (both 41.2° C) also saw temperatures breach the 40-degree mark. In total, 17 districts across Telangana recorded temperatures above 40° C, highlighting the intensifying summer conditions.

An additional 16 districts reported temperatures between 37° C and 40° C. Among them, Medchal Malkajgiri recorded a maximum of 39.7° C, while Hyderabad recorded 39.6° C.

Amid the rising heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for 17 districts on Friday, April 18. The forecast includes thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, expected to occur at isolated places in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Nagarkurnool.

In Hyderabad, the IMD predicts partly cloudy skies with hazy morning conditions for the next 48 hours. The city is expected to see a maximum temperature of around 39°C and a minimum of 25°C.
