Man arrested for contaminating midday meal kitchen at government school in Telangana’s Adilabad | Hyderabad News

The police in Telangana’s Adilabad district Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly applying pesticide on kitchen utensils meant for cooking midday meals at a government primary school.

After teachers discovered a possible contamination of the kitchen and utensils, the Ichchoda police launched an investigation, and arrested the unemployed man. The police also found an empty pesticide bottle on the school premises.

Akhil Mahajan, Superintendent of Police, Adilabad, announced the arrest of Soyam Kistu, 27, a resident of the Dharmapuri village. Mahajan said Kistu confessed to committing the offence. “He brought pesticide from his brother’s house in Nirmal, broke into the school kitchen and applied it on utensils,” the SP said.

The officer said Kistu was mentally anxious and depressed due to family disputes. “He took the action because he was angry with his family at home as he was not sent out of the house and to work,” Mahajan told the media.

He said no one was harmed at the school.

When teachers arrived at the Dharmapuri government primary school Tuesday after a two-day holiday, they found the kitchen door broken and a white substance on utensils. They also found white water in a pot and a bucket.

Suspecting foul play and based on a complaint from school principal Pratibha, the police launched an investigation and questioned several people.

A case was registered at the Ichchoda Police Station under sections 329(4) (punishment for house trespass), 324(6)(mischief), 331(8) (all persons jointly concerned in lurking house trespass or housebreaking by night where death or grievous hurt caused by one of them), 332 (house trespass) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
