Amid scaled up anti-Maoist operations in Dandakaranya forest region in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, the Bhadradri Kothagudem district police in Telangana laid a renewed thrust on improving road connectivity in the forested border region straddling Telangana’s Bhadrachalam Agency and Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar division.
Work on the 2-km BT road between Pusuguppa in Charla mandal and Rampuram in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district has been completed in a mission mode under the round-the-clock security cover of the district police and the CRPF personnel.

Speaking to the media at Pusuguppa, the SP said the 1.9 km vital road connecting Pusuguppa and Rampuram along the inter-State border has been completed at an estimated cost of ₹3 crore sanctioned by the State government.
It will help tribal people in the interior areas access education and health services, he added, saying two mobile hospitals will be inaugurated one each in Pusuguppa and Chennapuram villages in Charla mandal soon.
An overwhelming number of 220 cadres of the CPI (Maoist) from Telangana and south Bastar region of Chhattisgarh had surrendered before the district police so far this year, the SP said attributing it to the “Operation Cheyutha” of the district police and rehabilitation measures being implemented by the Telangana government for surrendered Maoists.
