Roads Will Lead To Adivasi Development: SP

Nalgonda: District police are expanding education and healthcare access in Maoist-affected tribal areas, superintendent of police B. Rohit Raj said on Thursday after inspecting a new black-top road near the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border.

The SP rode a motorcycle for 2 km along the ₹3-crore road linking Punuguppa in Cherla mandal to Rampuram and Chennaram villages in neighbouring Chhattisgarh. “Road connectivity is key to Adivasi development; Maoist activity has been the biggest obstacle,” he told reporters.

Rohit Raj announced that mobile “hospital-on-wheels” units will soon be stationed at Punuguppa and Chennapuram, and said police will prioritise implementing state welfare schemes in remote hamlets.

Pointing to recent surrenders, the SP urged remaining Maoist cadres to lay down arms and join mainstream rehabilitation programmes. “We stand ready to facilitate their return and to accelerate progress in these regions,” he added.
