Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has alleged that Telangana could soon witness unrest akin to what has been seen in West Bengal.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office here on Friday, Sanjay alleged that the state govt was indirectly supporting protests against the Waqf bill, warning that if such demonstrations escalate, they could lead to serious law and order issues.
Taking a dig at the Congress party’s protest over the National Herald case, he claimed it achieved nothing beyond spreading abusive rhetoric. Drawing a theatrical comparison, he likened the Congress to NT Rama Rao’s iconic film Dana Veera Soora Karna, where the actor played multiple roles. “In the Congress, they are heroes, villains, brokers, and jokers—all in one,” he said.
Sanjay further accused the Congress of attempting to “loot the nation’s wealth” through the National Herald case. He was quick to clarify that the case was not initiated during the BJP regime but during 2011 under the then UPA govt, when the CBI launched the investigation. He pointed out that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had secured bail in the case long before the BJP came to power.
Raising concerns about the rule of law, he questioned whether the country’s laws applied to the Gandhis. “Those who have committed wrongdoings are freely roaming the streets, and the common people are losing faith in the judiciary,” he said, voicing concern over what he described as an erosion of public trust in the justice system.
