Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sought the assistance of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in taking up the second phase of the metro rail project.

The Chief Minister, who met top management of JICA in Tokyo on Thursday, explained that the Telangana government planned to take up the Metro Rail Phase-II with an investment of ₹ 24,269 crore as a joint venture project between the State and Central governments. The proposal was already under active consideration of the Central government. He said the Telangana government was keen on JICA’s support for 48% loan component of the project, amounting to ₹11,693 crore. The State government was strictly following the foreign debt funding norms of the government of India.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by senior officers met JICA senior vice-president Shohei Hara and other senior managers and gave a detailed overview of the investor-friendly policies of Telangana government, attractiveness of Hyderabad as a global investments destination and large-scale infrastructure projects being taken up in the city and its surroundings.
