Good Friday observed with solemnity

Members of the Christian community attended special prayers in different churches across the city, with some churches organising Passion Play, to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday.

There was a large gathering of people at the open ground near St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Gunfoundry where a Passion Play was staged to visible sighs of shock from the attendees. Similar scenes were played out in a number of other churches in the early hours of the day.

While St. Mary’s Basilica in Secunderabad had the passion play at 7 a.m., the Holy Family Church in Trimulgherry staged the passion play at 7.15 a.m., and it was a series of prayer sessions at the St. George’s Church in Abids.

Many churches set up tented spaces for the convenience of worshippers and distributed beverages.
