Guntur Girl Studying In The US Dies In Road Accident

VIJAYAWADA: A road accident in Texas, United States, claimed the life of Vangavolu Deepti, a Telugu girl from Rajendranagar in Guntur city, who had recently travelled to Denton City to pursue her master’s degree at the University of North Texas.

According to reports, Deepti and her friend Snigdha, who hails from Medikonduru, had been walking on the road on April 12 when a speeding car hit them. Deepti sustained a severe head injury, while Snigdha escaped with minor injuries. Both had been immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

Deepti’s friends informed her father Hanumantha Rao about the incident. He approached the office of union minister of state for communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrashekhar in Guntur. Dr. Pemmasani mobilised his team to ensure Deepti received the best possible medical care.

A crowdfunding campaign raised money for Deepti’s treatment. Despite all efforts, Deepti passed away on April 15. The union minister said arrangements have been made to bring Deepti’s body to Guntur on Saturday.

Deepti’s father Hanumantha Rao is a small-scale trader. Her younger sister Srilakshmi, currently in her second year of engineering, recalled her last conversation with Deepti over phone on April 10. Sadly, Srilakshmi said, that conversation turned out to be the last with her sister.
