Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Heritage Day, a heritage walk was organized on Friday morning from Charminar to Chowmahalla Palace in old city here.
The walk was organized by Deccan Heritage Academy Trust in association with Hyderabad Circle Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), JBR College of Architecture, Forum for Better Hyderabad and other civil societies.
International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) South Zone Representative Prof. GSV Suryanarayana Murthy, historians, students and other dignitaries were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Suryanarayana Murthy highlighted the importance of heritage walks and shared insights into the historical and architectural legacy of Charminar.
The participants walked through Charminar, Laad Bazar, Motigalli, Murgi Chowk, Iqbal ud Doula Devdi, Qurshid Jah Bahadur Palace and Khilawat before concluding at the majestic Chowmahalla Palace. The walk offered participants a living experience of Hyderabad’s past, marked by palatial mansions, centuries-old mosques, and vernacular architecture, rekindling pride in the city’s rich and diverse cultural history.
