HYDERABAD

A sudden downpour coupled with gales in several parts of Hyderabad due to the cumulonimbus clouds (thunderclouds) on Friday (April 18) evening has resulted in disruption in power supply following trees or tree branches, flex-board banners and other material falling on the transmission and distribution lines.

The disaster response teams of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) have got down to the restoration work by removing the tree branches from T&D lines to restore supply by restoring the damaged /snapped lines or alternative feeders.

According to officials of the Southern Discom, a huge tree was uprooted in the Red Hills area and its branches had fallen on a road-side distribution transformer results in instant fire in it. Tree branches had fallen on the power lines in the Babu Nagar area of Langar Houz area too snapping power supply.

In the Asmangadh division in the Old City, power supply was disrupted in areas served by about three dozen feeder lines. Tree branches had fallen on the 11 kv feeder lines in the A.C. Guards Section, Bazharghat feeder, Sai Enclave feeder, Green Hills feeder (Habsiguda), Malakpet, on the Triveni Nagar feeder (Saroor Nagar), Badangpet feeder, Athvelly feeder (Medchal), Abullapurmet, Motilalnagar (Begumpet) and several other areas.
