Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh BJP president Daggubati Purandeswari on Thursday launched the party’s public awareness campaign on Waqf reforms at the state BJP office. The initiative aims to educate people about proposed amendments and the need for new legislation related to Waqf properties.
Speaking to the media, Purandeswari clarified that the BJP is not seeking to repeal the Waqf Act, but reforms are necessary as per Supreme Court guidelines.
“The court itself stated that a new board must be formed in accordance with the new law, and no changes should be made to already recognised Waqf properties. The Centre has no role in the religious administration of Waqf properties,” she said.
The BJP chief for Andhra Pradesh delivered a detailed presentation on Waqf reforms during the session.
