Seven from undivided Kurnool and Anantapur districts make their way to YSRCP’s PAC

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has appointed seven senior leaders, including former Ministers, from the undivided Kurnool and Anantapur districts as members of the party’s Political Advisory Committee (PAC). YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday (April 12, 2025) reconstituted the PAC with 33 members.

According to a statement from the party office, the YSRCP State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has been appointed as the Coordinator of the PAC. The party’s regional coordinators will be the Permanent Invitees to the PAC.

Of the seven leaders appointed to the PAC, two are former Ministers of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy Cabinet and another a minority leader. Former Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and former MLA Abdul Hafeez Khan are from Kurnool district. Mr. Buggana, who lost from Dhone Assembly segment in Nandyal district in the recent elections, is said to be close to Mr. Jagan and served as Finance Minister in the previous YSRCP government.

M. Sankarnarayana won from Penukonda Assembly segment in Sri Sathya Sai district in the 2019 elections and was inducted into his Cabinet by Mr Jagan. He, however, was dropped in the reshuffle in 2022. Hailing from Kuruba community, Mr. Sankarnarayana unsuccessfully contested as Anantapur MP in the 2024 elections.

From Anantapur district, former MP Talari Rangaiah, former MLA from Uravakonda Y Visweswara Reddy, senior leader Mahalakshmi Srinivas and Sake Sailajanth were appointed as PAC members. Mr Rangaiah from Boya community won as Anantapur MP in 2019 and lost in the 2024 elections from Kalyandurg MLA segment. On the other hand, Mr. Srinivas is from Balija community. Mr. Sailajanath is a senior Congress leader and recently joined the YSRCP.

In another appointment, former MLA from Raptadu Thopudarthi Prakash Reddy has been appointed as the member of the party’s disciplinary committee in place of Mr Visweswara Reddy.
