It was the day of colonial era buildings under the defence forces as five of the six annual awards given by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage were named winners on Friday evening.

The lone outlier was the 1889-built Secunderabad Chenai Parsi Dharmashala that was named for the award on the International Day for Monuments and Sites or World Heritage Day.

The five buildings named for the 2025 Intach Awards are the EME Centre Officers’ Mess, Secunderabad; MCEME Officers Mess, Secunderabad; AOC Officers Mess, Secunderabad; Air Force Station, Hakimpet; and Cantonment House.

The Intach committee honoured the MH Military Hospital, Secunderabad, with a special citation.

The awards were given away at the Parsi Dharmashala. “It’s been 30 years since the awards were instituted by Intach. The awards keep a connection of the city with its built and natural heritage. It recognises efforts by individuals and institutions in preserving and cherishing heritage,” said Anuradha Reddy, convenor of Intach, Hyderabad chapter, at the awards function.
