Health Minister Says Kurnool GGH Will Be Made Best Hospital in AP

Kurnool: Health minister G. Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Kurnool will be developed into the best hospital in Andhra Pradesh. He made the declaration after inaugurating the advanced medical equipment in the cancer department of Kurnool GGH on Saturday afternoon.

Addressing doctors and staff at the Kurnool Medical College Conference Hall, Satya Kumar disclosed that following the formation of the NDA coalition government in the state, multiple discussions had been held with district minister T.G. Bharath. This led to the decision to launch cancer care services in Kurnool as soon as possible.

Accordingly, cancer treatment services at the Kurnool GGH started in March, while the advanced medical equipment to treat cancer has been made available on Saturday.

On a personal note, the health minister shared that he lost his mother and sister to cancer due to the lack of proper treatment facilities at the time. With support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, medical services worth ₹20 lakh are now being provided free of cost to people. He pointed out that even patients from Telangana and Karnataka are coming to Kurnool for cancer treatment.

Satya Kumar appealed to doctors who graduated from Kurnool Medical College and have achieved success to help their college by supporting Kurnool GGH and serving the community.

He pointed out that though the Adoni Medical College is being constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP), services at its hospital will be offered free of cost.

Speaking on the occasion, Industries minister T.G. Bharath appreciated the hospital staff, saying patients regard doctors as deities due to the quality of service they provided.

Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju underlined that given the region’s drought-prone status, people of the region must be provided full medical care free of cost.

Those present at the function included Adoni MLA V. Parthasarathy, AP Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation chairman Challapalli Srinivasa Rao, Kurnool Medical College principal Dr. Chitti Narasamma, joint collector Dr. B. Navya, Medical Education director Dr. Raghunandan and hospital superintendent Dr. Venkateswarlu.
