Hyderabad: A special check on drunk driving was conducted by Cyberabad Traffic Police this weekend, leading to the apprehension of 218 offenders. A total of 176 two-wheelers, 19 three-wheelers and 23 four-wheelers were seized.
As many as 20 offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, and 10 offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml.
All those caught will be produced before the court.
If anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and causes accidents, killing people, such persons will be arrested and sent to jail under section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) for which the maximum punishment is 10 years of jail and with fine.
