The All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Saturday (April 19) announced that it would embark on a series of demonstrations for the next few months, till the time the Union government withdraws the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025.

Addressing a packed audience at the Darussalaam grounds, and amidst rapturous sloganeering, the AIMPLB stated a series of roundtable meetings with those who believe in the composite culture and constitutionalism would be held beginning May 18. This would then be taken forward across the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The AIMPLB urged Muslims to switch off all lights for 10 minutes as a mark of protest on April 30.

On May 25, a massive human chain would be formed, with the AIMPLB urging one and all to join. Not intending to leave Muslim women behind, a special public meeting for them would be organised on May 22 at the Eidgah Bilali in Masab Tank. After this a protest meeting at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park is on the cards on June 1.

With a galaxy of speakers, including AIMPLB president Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani and Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi and clerics from across sects and schools of thought, noted Islamic scholar who was laying out the AIMPLB’s plans Maulana Ghayas Rashadi said: “These demonstrations will continue till the time the Act is withdrawn.”
