Residents of seven colonies in Injapur village in the Rangareddy district breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday (April 19) as officials from Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) cleared illegal embankments obstructing vital roadways.
The operation was conducted in Sri Rangapuram Colony, where an embankment had been erected across a 45-foot main road, cutting off access to six other colonies. According to local complaints received by HYDRAA, a person named Govind Das had not only encroached on portions of the layout but had also blocked the 45-foot thoroughfare that connects the area to the Sagar Highway. In addition, he was accused of encroaching on 25-foot internal roads, severely affecting daily movement for residents.
Locals alleged that the individual had been influencing officials from various departments and had carried out the encroachments in open defiance of existing court orders. After conducting a field-level verification, HYDRAA removed all obstructions, restoring access for the affected colonies.
The road clearance has reconnected Apple Avenue, Sri Rangapuram Colony, Sainath Colony, Sundaraya Colony, Sri Srinivasa Colony, Indiramma Colony 1, and Indiramma Colony 2, the agency said.
