Nizamabad: Under the banner of the Nizamabad Muslim Personal Law Committee, hundreds of protesters marched from Malapally to Quilla via Bodhan Road and Ahmadpura on Sunday to denounce the Centre’s newly introduced Waqf Amendment Act. Government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Urdu Academy state chairman Taher Bin Hamdan and senior leader M.A. Quddus joined the rally, accusing the Bill of undermining Muslim control over Waqf properties.
Shabbir cited backing from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, declaring, “We will fight the Waqf Amendment Act as per the law,” and welcoming the Supreme Court’s move to review the legislation, which he said violates Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
The district police deployed additional personnel along the route, and the demonstration — marked by spirited slogans and strong youth participation — ended peacefully.
