43.7°C recorded in Adilabad; 31 of 33 Telangana districts record over 40°C

Heatwave conditions gripped Telangana on Sunday (April 20, 2025) as 31 out of 33 districts recorded maximum temperatures above 40°C. According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Adilabad was the hottest place in the State, logging a scorching 43.7°C.

Close behind were Kumaram Bheem Asifabad at 43.4°C, Jagtial at 43.1°C, Kamareddy at 43°C, and Karimnagar at 42.9°C. Mancherial. Nizamabad, Nirmal, Medak, Rajanna Sircilla, and Peddapalli recorded temperatures ranging from 42.2°C to 42.9°C. A total of 20 districts recorded maximum temperatures between 40°C and 42°C.

Urban pockets weren’t spared either. Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 41.6°C, while Hyderabad touched 40.6°C.

Thunderstorm alert to eight districts

Amid soaring temperatures, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday has issued a thunderstorm alert to eight districts for Tuesday (April 22, 2025). Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.

For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds over the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are likely to hover around 39°C and 26°C, respectively.
