The historic struggle waged by Adivasi warriors for lands and livelihoods in Telangana’s tribal heartland of composite Adilabad district in the past paved the way for the enactment of various laws to safeguard tribal rights and implementation of a host of welfare schemes for tribal people, said Panchayat Raj Minister D. Anasuya (Seethakka).

The minister paid homage at the Indervelli martyrs’ memorial column on the 44th anniversary of the infamous Indervelli policing firing incident in Adilabad district on Sunday (April 20, 2025). The commemorative event was observed officially at the martyrs’ column, sources said.

Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh and Khanapur MLA Vedma Bhojju Were Among Those Present.

Speaking at the martyrs’ column, the Minister said the Congress government is implementing various measures for the welfare of the family members of the victims of the Indervelli police firing incident that occurred on April 20, 1981. Houses, TRICOR loans, jobs and livelihood opportunities are being provided to them, she said.

The commemorative event drew scores of Adivasis from various parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district. The precincts of the martyrs’ column echoed with slogans by Adivasis hailing the historic struggles for rights over “Jal, Jungle, Zameen”.
