Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad recorded its highest ever passenger traffic and aircraft movements in financial year 2024-25, which highlights the airport’s growing stature.
RGIA handled 29.16 million passengers during FY2025, marking a 17 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 25.04 million passengers in FY2024. In March 2025 alone, the airport witnessed 2.6 million passengers, up 17 per cent YoY.
The increase was driven by a strong growth in both domestic and international. Domestic passenger traffic in March stood at 2.2 million, showing a 17.5 per cent increase, while international traffic reached 0.4 million, rising 16.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The movement of aircrafts also rose. RGIA handled 1,99,349 aircraft movements during the financial year, a 15 per cent increase over FY2024. In March alone, 18,398 movements were recorded, again up 15 per cent year-on-year.
This puts Hyderabad among the top-performing airports in the GMR portfolio, which includes Delhi, Mopa (Goa) and international airports in Medan (Indonesia) and Cebu (the Philippines).
Across all GMR airports, more than 10.5 million passengers were handled in March 2025, representing a 7.9 per cent YoY growth. Domestic traffic grew by 7.9 per cent, while international traffic surged by 48 per cent during the same month. GMR Airports surpassed 120 million passengers and 0.73 million aircraft movements (ATMs) in FY2025.
