Telangana continues to reel under intense heat as mercury levels surged past the 40°C mark across all 33 districts on Monday (April 21, 2025). Adilabad emerged as the hottest location in the State, recording a maximum temperature of 44°C, according to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).
Close on Adilabad’s heels were Nirmal at 43.9°C, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial and Jogulamba Gadwal at 43.8°C, while Mancherial and Nizamabad recorded 43.7°C. Kamareddy logged 43.6°C, followed by Karimnagar and Rajanna Sircilla at 43.5°C, and Peddapalli at 43.4°C. The remaining 23 districts reported temperatures between 40°C and 43°C.
The soaring heat spared neither urban nor semi-urban areas. Medchal Malkajgiri reported a maximum temperature of 42.4°C, while Hyderabad sweltered at 41.6°C.
Heatwave alert
In light of the rising temperatures, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several districts from Wednesday (April 23, 2025) to Friday (April 25, 2025). Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nirmal districts on Wednesday.
The warning extends to include Nizamabad and Jagtial on April 24 and continues for the same districts on April 25.
