Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil on Tuesday appealed to the residents of Bommireddipalle village in Veldurti mandal to maintain peace and concentrate on the development of the area. He was on a visit to the village as part of an outreach session following the recent disturbances reported there.
Interacting with the villagers, the SP stressed the importance of education and obedience to the law and order among the youth. “You should contribute towards maintaining law and order in the village. Give top priority to educating your children and staying away from conflicts,” he said.
The SP warned that strict legal action would be taken against those found to be causing trouble and breaking the law and order. “No one should take law into their hands. In case, anybody is subjected to wrongdoing, the injustice should be reported to the police,” Mr. Patil said, highlighting the risks of personal rivalries, which would often take tragic turns. “The public should either report their grievances to the police or seek legal action,” the SP said.
During the interaction, the SP enquired about issues such as the drinking water problem, and street lights in the rural areas. He also informed women to approach the police in case they faced issues like eve-teasing and domestic violence.
Meanwhile, the police and excise personnel launched raids on illicit liquor dens in Bangarupeta near Kurnool in the early hours of Tuesday. They detained one person, seized 65 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed 2,000 litres of jaggery wash following the raids.
