Tribal Art Camp for School Kids From April 28 in Hyderabad


Hyderabad: The Tribal Cultural Research and Training Institute, which operates under the tribal welfare department, is conducting a summer camp focused on tribal art and craft traditions. The camp, open to students from Classes III to X residing in Hyderabad, will run from April 28 to May 7. Registrations are open until April 26.

Sessions will be split into two batches, each accommodating sixty students. The morning slot will run from 10 am to 12 noon, while the evening batch is scheduled from 3 pm to 5 pm. The venue is the TRI New Building at DSS Bhavan, located near the Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum in Masab Tank.

Participants will engage in hands-on sessions covering Koya painting, Banjara crafts, jewellery making, Naikpod-style mask creation, and bamboo craft traditions such as Kolam designs. In addition to the workshops, students will also visit the Tribal Museum, watch documentary films, and receive traditional refreshments daily. Each participant will be given a certificate of participation.

The registration fee is Rs 1,350 per student. This programme is designed to introduce schoolchildren to tribal cultural knowledge through hands-on learning.
