NIZAMABAD: Sizzling summer is adversely affecting the people in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts for the last few days. Highest temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nizamabad on Wednesday. People are afraid to come out from their homes between 12 noon to 5 pm. As a result, highways and other roads witnessed a deserted look.
Highest temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bichkunda, Jukkal, Nasrullabad mandal headquarters, Somur and Menur villages in Madnoor mandal of Kamareddy district on Wednesday. The meteorological department sounded a high alert of hot weather conditions for Nizamabad district in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, Nizamabad and Kamareddy district administrations also alerted the people over precautions in sizzling summer. Daily wage workers, footpath vendors halted their work during the peak summer hours. If there is any urgency, people are taking precautions like sunglasses, white clothes and umbrellas to protect themselves from the hot summer.
District medical and health department released a poster on precautions in the summer season. To protect from the sunstroke effect, the officials made suggestions in the posters. Nizamabad district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu directed officials to make available medicines in primary health centres, urban health centres to tackle hot weather conditions.
Interestingly, few fuel filling stations in Nizamabad are offering ‘jeera pani’ (cumin water) to the oil filling two wheeler and four wheeler passengers. The Jeera Pani will protect the people from the sunstroke. Social organisations and individuals also set up Chalivendram (cool water supply centres) in Nizamabad, Armoor, Bodhan, Kamareddy, Banswada and other towns. To quench their thirsty people also buy chilled water bottles and cool drinks.
